Sinceriously

I usually don't write in English, but what I'm about to write wouldn't feel right writing in any other language and since my matriculation exam in English is coming up in two weeks it's also very good practice. But to the point. I have been following a series called Arrow on  the CW this past autumn starring Stephen Amell as the main character Oliver Queen. Stephen Amell is a Canadian actor who likes spreading awareness and he does that by organizing different campaigns. So far he has organized two great campaigns called F&ck Cancer and Sinceriously, the latter was relaunched last night.

Amell is very active on social media, posting videos several times a week on Facebook, and because of that I have become quite familiar with his Sinceriously campaign. The campaign proceeds to two amazing charities, Stand for the Silent & Paws and Stripes and by buying a T-shirt or a hoodie you can contribute and make the world a little bit of a better place.

"It's a campaign to get people talking. And what better way to get people talking than by creating a new word" – Stephen Amell

What really has got me thinking is that Amell, or if you don't mind me calling him Stephen, has been asking people what the campaign and the word sinceriously means to them and encouraging them to post videos about that on social media. I have seen some heart wrenching videos and I think it's great that people are expressing so much emotion but I almost feel embarrassed when I think of my modest meaning of the word. But anyhow I would like to share with you what the word sinceriously means to me and since I don't do videos I thought that my blog would be the perfect place to do that.

We live today in a world where everything is about achieving or performing something. We often tend to forget that there is only one thing we really should be trying to be best at, and that is being you. There is no one like you so there won't even be any competition.  Yet we still we forget to be ourselves and try to please others by saying what they want to hear or by expressing "the right" opinion, when we really should be saying what we really want and having whatever opinion we like. I know this next line is such cliché but I'm going to write it anyway: It is important to be you because everybody else is already taken. Be true to yourself! You don't always need to be best at everything because you are already best at many things you just don't know what they are yet. I really do believe in the saying that everything happens for a reason and that it will be alright. So don't worry if you didn't get the job you applied to or if you didn't get into the college you wanted, you did your best but it wasn't meant to be, not yet at least.

So that is what the word Sinceriuosly means to me.
If you want to contribute to the campaign and donate a little money to charity visit this page for more information, but be quick there is only 24 hours left of the campaign!
